Hi my name is Sean….
and I am a recovering Health & Wellness Professional!
Let me explain.
For years I have been teaching individuals how to improve their personal fitness, health and wellbeing and all the while I was suffering from a sickness I really didn’t know I had.
Exhausted, on my knees….I was done.
Have you ever been there?
You see, over the last 30 years as a health & fitness author and coach I’ve spent the majority of my professional career training others to strengthen and improve their physical fitness, health and lives.
It was on this day it hit me, I saw aspects of my own life, beginning to unravel.
I was suffering from a condition I really didn’t know I had.
I had been reading a book titled “Margin”-Restoring Emotional, Physical, Financial and Time Reserves to Overloaded Lives written by Richard Swenson MD. As I was perusing the pages I kept finding nuggets of information I thought would be helpful for many of my clients who were struggling with balancing their health and fitness and the demands of a busy life. Then it hit me. I came across a section listing specific symptoms. Symptoms I had seen in so many of my clients, family members, colleagues and friends……
See if any of these symptoms are true of you:
1. With all I have on my plate I just don’t feel like I have any time for myself.
2. I find it difficult to rest or relax.
3. I’m usually too exhausted to truly enjoy my family and friends when I am with them.
4. I often worry about others and feel responsible for their happiness.
5. Small things easily get under my skin
6. I don’t seem to have the joy I once did.
The sobering reality, after looking at the statements above was….
I answered “yes” to all of them.
And you know what? I was not alone. According to the American Psychological Association, “Nearly 3 in 5 employees reported negative impacts of work-related stress, including lack of interest, motivation, or energy (26%) and lack of effort at work (19%). Meanwhile, 36% reported cognitive weariness, 32% reported emotional exhaustion, and an astounding 44% reported physical fatigue—a 38% increase since 2019.”
I knew I had to do something and it was when I began to understand the reality of “burnout” and “overload” and how it can creep up on any one of us, that I began to create, for my own personal and professional survival, a “Daily Ritual”, a morning practice, that eventually became part of our RISE 7 Minute Method.
It’s something I have practiced for some time now and have taught individuals and organizations throughout the United States and have seen the impact, most importantly, in my own life!
Experts and global researchers, at organizations such as Gallup, would agree. In June 2021, 74% of employees said they experienced burnout on the job at least sometimes. For many employees, this may seem like an inevitability. But Gallup has discovered that there are people whose likelihood of experiencing burnout is essentially zero. These individuals share three things in common:
1. They are engaged at work.
2. They have regular practices to experience greater well-being.
3. And their organization has a strengths-based culture.
In practicing daily the 7 Minute Method, I began to see improvements in my own life and in the lives of others, similar to what the Gallup researchers uncovered, improvements such as:
A. Greater mental clarity
B. Stronger health
C. More freedom and focus
D. Less stress
E. More time - space and margin in my life to do the things I love
F. More contentment and peace
G. Stronger meaning and purpose
H. Closer and more intimate relationships
I. Greater financial well-being
J. And more memorable moments with the ones I love!
Can you imagine what life would look and feel like if you were able to RISE above your challenges and become stronger in your:
• Purpose and Resilience……….
For most of us, we have “tried” to change our habits or life multiple times without lasting impact. What’s the problem?
We’ve realized without a simple, doable, proven daily system to do the very things we know we should do, it’s easy to find ourselves going right back to our old ways of thinking and behaving, especially when the speed of life increases dramatically.
The good news is the RISE 7 Minute Method is all about helping you train simply - even when life leaves you breathless. This system works. We’ve seen it transform the lives of countless others and thankfully, we also know this personally, as it is something we created to improve our own personal and professional lives.
So if you’ve been feeling a little bit tired or burned out from the pace of life, remember you are not alone…and slowing down, even for just 7 minutes, may be all you need to turn the tide and create a stronger you.
Blessings from all of us at RISE,
Dee, Sean and the team
