What is the best exercise in the world?

We hope this Labor Day weekend finds you well and ready to RISE Together this weekend!

We have a few questions for you this weekend….what do you think is the best exercise proven to help you:

·      Melt off body fat, lose weight and keep it off
·      Rev up your energy
·      Breakthrough stress
·      Boost your mood
·      Increase your earning potential
·      Enhance your love life
·      Tone and tighten your entire body
·      And much, much more…

Want to find out?

What’s the best exercise to help you accomplish all of these wonderful benefits? Drum roll, please……

Here’s why walking ranks #1;

1.    It’s convenient- Walking is something you can do anytime, almost anywhere. You can walk inside or outside. No need for special gear, gym memberships or fancy equipment, all you need is a safe area to hoof it and you are on your way.

2.    It’s inexpensive- Two words: “It’s Free!” Walking doesn’t cost anything. The only cost is for the only essential piece of equipment you’ll need is- a good pair of shoes.  (Unless you are a barefoot runner—even cheaper!)

3.    It feels good- Your body will feel more energized almost immediately after just a few blocks, not to mention how much better you’ll feel emotionally.

4.    It’s safe- Nearly everyone from young to old can experience the many health and fitness benefits of walking without undue strain or risk of injury.

5.    It’s for lifeWalking is something you can do for a long, long time.  It is the #1 activity you can continue to perform long into your golden years.

6.    It’s adaptableWhile you might tend to lean toward one particular walking style over the others, there are so many different ways to vary your walking routine to help you reach your specific wellness goals and provide variety while doing it-such as; strolling,  power walking, stair climbing or race walking and many more.

7.    It’s easy to do- You don’t need any special lessons, equipment or training to walk briskly and reap the many benefits to your body.

8.    It’s so good for you- Physical activity and exercise like walking is good for your body, your mind, your productivity,  your heart, and spirit.

“I personally think that brisk walking is far and away the single best exercise,” Michael Joyner, M.D. Leading researcher in the field of endurance exercise, Mayo Clinic

How to RISE Together and get on the move!
So how do we “get on the move” this week? Remember, it doesn’t matter where you begin or what type of exercise you choose (whether it’s walking, jogging, cycling, swimming, lifting weights, etc. or how long you move, one minute, five minutes, 10 minutes or more); what matters is your ability to begin to ask the right questions and come up with a realistic plan that works for you.

To help us RISE Together and  “Get on the move,” take a moment to consider the questions below:

#1: Think Well: Ask yourself, if I continue to live the way I am now, what does my health and fitness look like 10 years from today?” Do I like what I see? Does it encourage me? Does it concern me?

#2: Plan Well: Ask yourself, what one thing could I do, that I know would make a tremendous difference to my health and fitness that I am not doing right now? What would it be? For example, walking regularly?

#3: Move Well: Ask yourself, what does my health, fitness, and life look like if I were to begin to move on a regular basis? Even for just a few minutes a day?

#4: Live Well: Ask yourself, who can I lean on for ongoing support, accountability, and encouragement?
